Yonrico Scott Band
Excerpts, quotes, and news on Yonrico Scott, as artist and band member of YSB & dTb.
Modern Drummer (May 2009): "Drummer Yonrico Scott displays a loose, jazzy style that flows smoothly over each of the musical journeys. His is not a defined style, but rather a homogeneous, chameleon-like adaptation that fits well with this southern-flavored blend of worldly blues-based music." Read more
Brad Buchholz, Austin 360, 'Peace, Love, and Slide' (Yonrico re: Derek March 2, 2009): "Derek has what my mother, a gospel singer, liked to call an anointed voice," says his friend Yonrico Scott, who plays drums for the Derek Trucks Band. "The first time I heard him play slide guitar - he was only 13, 14 at the time - I had chills. The kind of chills I had the first time I heard `Precious Lord, Take My Hand' in church. I knew he was speaking through his instrument. It's all about the art with him. That's all that matters." Read more
Reuters (Jan 21, 2009): "The Derek Trucks Band Debuts at Number 19 on the Billboard Top 200 After Spellbinding Performance on Conan and Critical Acclaim..." Read more
Jazz.com - review 'Footprints' (single from 1996 CD release): "Derek Trucks' version of Wayne Shorter's "Footprints" provides ample proof of Trucks' designation as one of Rolling Stone's 100 Best Guitarists... The recording contains tasty jamming and group interplay... Both Smallie's animated bass and Scott's hard-hitting, fleet-footed percussion seem to solo alongside Trucks, yet they never shift the focus away from him. The musical subtlety and grace places all three of the players in the top tier of musicians..." Read more
